Arlene Miljure Guildford Instructor
Charles Miljure Fleetwood Instructor
Arlene has been a Kumon Instructor since 1993. Arlene achieved the status of "Elite Kumon Instructor" within the first year of operation and is ranked #8 of only 60 gold level centres out of over 1500 individually owned Kumon centres in Canada and the United States. Worldwide there are over 20,000 Franchisees who provide the Kumon method of instruction to 4.5 million students in 45 countries every day.
The "Gold Level" distinction is based not only on student enrollment but also on centre management and the level of studies attained by her students.
Arlene was introduced to the Kumon method by a friend who was an instructor in the Surrey area. She assisted in that centre and, when the existing instructor moved back to Taiwan, Arlene took over the centre. At the time there were approximately 80 students studying in the centre located in the Guildford area of Surrey. A year later, January 1994, Arlene opened a second location in the Newton Library. As the enrollment quickly grew in both centres, Charles was called upon to assist.
In 1999 the centre was moved from the Guildford Recreation Centre to its present location in Boardwalk Plaza.
In September of 2005 Charles took over an existing centre in the Fleetwood area and enrollment in the three centres came close to 1000.
July of 2006 was a turning point when Fleetwood Kumon was moved from the Library complex to its new location on Fraser Hwy. at 160th Ave.
Charles and Arlene employ 25 - 30 employees on a part time basis. Many of these capable staff have been with Guildford Kumon for between 5 - 8 years or even more. At the time of their application for employment all staff are thoroughly tested to ensure they have the needed qualifications to assist your children to learn the "Kumon Way". Of these employees there are usually about 10 - 12 on at any given class session to assist the students.
